NYFF 59: Main Slate Titles Unveiled
by KM, Movie Lightbox
The films selected for the Main Slate of the 59th New York Film Festival have been announced today, featuring new titles from renowned auteurs, directors making their NYFF debuts and celebrated films from international festivals.
Notable films include Cannes’ top prize winner Titane by Julia Ducournau, Berlinale’s Golden Bear winner Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude, Sundance sensation and Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema Documentary, Flee by Jonas Poher Rasmussen and Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria starring Tilda Swinton.
“Taken together, the movies in this year’s Main Slate are a reminder of cinema’s world-making possibilities. They open up new ways of seeing and feeling and thinking, and whether or not they refer to our uncertain present, they help us make sense of our moment.”, said said Dennis Lim, NYFF Director of Programming and chair of the Main Slate selection committee.
Presented by Film at Lincoln Center, the New York Film Festival highlights the best in world cinema. This year’s edition will feature in-person screenings, as well as select outdoor and virtual events. Here’s the list of 32 films selected for the Main Slate:
